The beginning of our portrait art

We are creating portraits at the moment in our art sessions.

Mrs Holmes took a photograph of every member of the class.  These pictures were printed in black and white.  Then, we folded the picture, of ourselves, into quarters.  After that, we cut the quarters so that we had 4 separate pieces of the picture.

We will be treating each piece of our picture differently.  On one piece we will use coloured pencils, on another we will use crayons, on the third piece we will use oil pastels.  On the fourth and final piece, we will do a mosaic collage effect.
So far the pictures are looking great.

We have been discussing how we can achieve some depth in our portrait by using shading as well as avoiding repetitive straight strokes with a pencil or crayon, instead using curved lines.
