Our new topic is States of Change
We started our discussions by defining what change is and then what can cause change. We discovered that change can be caused by temperature and by mixing ingredients / chemicals.
Our experiment taster session involved watching what would happen when we combined milk, dishwashing liquid and food colouring.
Four separate groups had varying results. Colours changed and mixed slowly. We discovered that the colours eventually mixed to a murky grey colour but initially the colours seemed to stay separate.

What we realised was that the dishwashing liquid was trying to attack the fat in the milk, like it does when washing dirty dishes. The food colouring allowed us to see how the milk reacted.

This was really fun to see it change so many times before it went brown.
